Gone A Bit Dotty

I have found that over the years I have avoided polka dots.

Sure, they can be cute in small amounts, but I don't think I've ever had the confidence to choose the right piece that would last more than half a season. They tend to be one of those flash trends that only last a couple of months and then they are... well... dated.

I broke my own rules with this skirt, thanks to a couple (or three) glasses of Champagne and eBay.

What hooked me in were the massive white button detail on the back of it (remember, you can click on the pics to enlarge them).

Teamed with a black turtleneck and skinny belt, I hoped to move the outfit away from the cutesy to something a little more sophisimacated for work.

So tell me - What trends do you try to avoid (no matter how many times they raise their trendy little heads)?

Skirt - eBay
Turtleneck - Susan
Belt - Country Road
Brooch - Velour on Barkly St St Kilda

You're right, the white button detail on the back is really classy.

That is a stunning skirt!

I avoid gladiator sandals/flats anything involving denim and leggings as pants hehe. Although there are times when I'm awfully tempted to cross over to the darkside!

Lovely skirt - you wear polka dots very well. But I'm biased, polka dots are always on my 'do' list!
I also avoid gladiator sandals, like Miss Karen. I hate strapless anything, neon colours and smocks. yuk ;p

Ooh, that skirt is gorgeous!

I avoid jeans, gladiator sandals like Miss_Red and Karen, and footless tights. Ick. Oh, and empire-line dresses that make me look pregnant, although I fell prey to one of those last year and had my mother-in-law all hopeful for a few days.

Skirt looks sizzling on you!
I avoid shift dressing at all costs, I don't believe they do anything, for anyone, of any size. There, I've said it!

I too have refused to succumb to the Gladiator sandal trend.

Only very tall women with coltish legs can get away with them (and really only if they have decent heels). They only succeed in making you look shorter and your legs thicker.
